MORE STRANGE ART FOR STRANGE PEOPLE

Gallery tour stop #2 of 13 featuring original Emily the Strange artwork —

On Thursday, July 20th, 2006, La Cantina in San Diego, CA and Wonderful World Art Gallery invites the masses to witness original art and meet the creative forces behind the world’s most intriguing 13 year old and international counterculture phenomenon – Emily the Strange.

The second stop in the international 13 city, 13th anniversary gallery tour will feature paintings on canvas, wood and screen as well as limited edition prints and original comic panels. Emily creator Rob Reger and illustrator Buzz Parker will be on hand to discuss their works and offer insights into this singularly strange pop icon. “We’re excited to broaden our fan base while being more visible in the art world.” Reger explains. “Comic book aficionados will really dig the 20 or more pages of comic book inks for upcoming issue 3,” Parker says of the event, running tandem with International Comic Con 2006 in San Diego. “I’ll be the dude in the Darth Vader Emily wig,” he adds.

La Cantina is the second stop on a 13 city international gallery tour, celebrating Emily’s 13th birthday since her creation at Cosmic Debris Etc., Inc.  Cosmic Debris is the powerhouse behind a new wave of pop culture icons including Emily the Strange and Oopsy Daisy.

Emily the Strange has never been hotter! With over 2.5 million fans, retailers across the globe, a merchandise website, a quarterly comic book with Dark Horse Comics and an upcoming feature length film with 20th Century Fox, this underground sensation has become a worldwide phenomenon.  With far-reaching international exposure and appearances on hit TV shows such as Gilmore Girls and MAD tv, Emily the Strange has definitely made a forceful impression.  Celebrities such as Marilyn Manson, Karen O, Courtney Love, Fatboy Slim, Tommy Lee, and Rose McGowen are just a few of Cosmic Debris’ fans.

Join Cosmic Debris at La Cantina for this exclusive event with gothic charm. Art enthusiasts can view and discuss the artwork, and become a part of the Emily Strange following.  As fans snatch up their favorite original paintings and limited edition prints, they can rendezvous with the creative minds behind Emily the Strange, creator Rob Reger and illustrator, Buzz Parker.
